Guided Hike & Walking Safari

A few hours out of town, on foot in the Khomas Hochland. Come walking with us at Daan Viljoen, through rocky hills, open valleys and riverbeds, with stops for the views and whatever wildlife we find along the way.

Giraffes, kudu, oryx and wildebeest roam here. Sightings vary.

The walk

9 km with a guide from Climb Away by Sol Collection. Expect around 3 to 4 hours on the trail, with uphill and downhill sections and uneven ground. You will need a reasonable level of fitness. Windhoek pickup and drop-off are included; confirm your pickup address and timing when you book.

Before you go

Bring sturdy hiking shoes, drinking water, a hat, sunscreen, a daypack and a warm layer. Food and drinks are not included. The Daan Viljoen entrance fee is N$200 per person, payable separately from the tour price. Please tell us about any mobility concerns before booking.

Where does the hike take place?

At Daan Viljoen Game Park in the Khomas Hochland, outside Windhoek.

How difficult is it?

The 9 km route has climbs, descents, uneven ground and riverbeds. You need a reasonable level of fitness and sturdy hiking shoes. Tell us about any mobility concerns before booking.

How long is the walk?

Allow around 3 to 4 hours on the trail, depending on pace and conditions. Confirm the full outing and pickup timing when you book.

Will we see wildlife?

You may see giraffes, kudu, oryx and wildebeest. The animals roam freely, so sightings are not guaranteed.
